Eosinophilic gastritis
EOSINOPHILIC GASTRITIS
•Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is a rare gastrointestinal disease characterized by crampy generalized abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding and weight loss
•The etiology of the disease remains unknown
•the stomach and the small intestine are the most common sites
•The diagnosis is usually confirmed by an upper endoscopy and microscopy that shows more than 20 eosinophils per high-power field in the association with peripheral eosinophilia and the absence of secondary cause of eosinophilia
•Most patients respond to steroid therapy with full resolution of symptoms
